The Trenton Middle School boys racked up 112 points on Monday afternoon, outdistancing the runner-up total of 95 by King City to win the St. Joseph Christian Junior High Invitational.
Highlights for the Trenton boys were a 1st place finish of 4:22.83 for the 4 by 400 relay team of Rudy Esparza, Ian Elbert, Nicholas Smith, and Coleman Griffin. Griffin, with an effort of 33 feet, 5 inches, won the triple jump. Wyatt Schneiderheinze won the 1600 meter race in 5:50.04, with Jarek Habelitz winning the 100 meter dash in 12.44 seconds.
Smith finished runner-up in the 100 meter hurdles, with Trent Villacampa second in the high jump, and Brayden Hughs second in the 400 meter dash. The 4 by 200 relay team of Dylan Catron, Levi Johnson, Frankie Halstead, and Ian Elbert took second place as well.
Villacampa was third in the 100 hurdles, with Griffin third in the 1600.
South Harrison won the girls title in St. Joseph, with 125 1/2 points. Mid-Buchanan was second at 98.5, followed by DeKalb (80.5) and Trenton’s fourth place total of 77 1/2 points.
For the TMS girls, Savannah Triplet had three finishes in second place, with the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, in addition to the high jump. Emma Roberts was third in the shot put and long jump, with the 4 by 200 relay team of Maddy Couey, Eliana Cowling, Summer Martin, and Sarah Washburn finishing in third place in their event.
The TMS track teams are next in action on Thursday afternoon at Milan.
