The Tina-Avalon Lady Dragons, behind 24 points from Haley Rucker and 21 from fellow sophomore Samantha Rounkles, downed the Linn County Lady Mustangs on Monday night, 66-44 in the quarterfinal round of the Meadville Invitational Basketball Tournament. Senior Hannah Colliver added 11 points for Tina-Avalon, now 10-3 on the season. For Linn County, Jenna Hoerrmann had 22 points, with Madison Livingston scoring 10.
In the boys quarterfinal contested on Monday night at Meadville High School, the Northwestern Eagles beat Tina-Avalon 85-37. The final two games of the night, scheduled to featured the Panthers of Grundy R-5 High School, were postponed due to adverse weather and road conditions.
Tournament officials, on Tuesday morning, announced the postponement of all four quarterfinals scheduled for Tuesday night, with those games, and the games scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, all moved back 24 hours. On Saturday, there will be six games, starting with the girls consolation final at 11 o’clock.
The Grundy R-5 games postponed from Monday night will be rescheduled for Wednesday night, and played at the Northwestern High School gymnasium in Mendon, with the Lady Panthers paying Northwestern at 5 o’clock, followed by the Grundy boys against Linn County at 6:30.
