The Trenton Lady Bulldogs will welcome Grand River Conference rival Putnam County, the Brookfield Lady ‘Dogs, and Lawson Lady Cardinals to the Ebbe Sports Complex on Saturday morning, for a four-team jamboree, serving as a warmup for the fast approaching 2021 high school softball season.
The fields at Ebbe are located on the southeast side of the Trenton Middle School/Trenton High School complex, just west of Oklahoma Avenue, with admission free to the general public for Saturday’s action, with both Griffin and Johnson Fields being utilized, as three games each will be played at each field location.
Action starts at 9 o’clock on Saturday morning, with Trenton High School set to play three straight scrimmages at Mark Griffin Memorial Field, with THS battling Brookfield at 9, Lawson at 10, and Putnam County at 11. The schedule of games at Johnson Field will see Lawson against Putnam County at 9, Putnam County opposite Brookfield at 10, with Lawson and Brookfield to finish off the event.
Jamboree organizers also note that if possible, play “could” move ahead of planned start times.
Rules for the jamboree are three innings of softball in each scrimmage. However, each half-inning ends if five runs are scored by a team. Three outs would of course also end a half-inning. If a scrimmage takes one hour before three innings are completed, the game will end at that point.
Carrollton High School will host a four-team scrimmage on Saturday morning, with Brunswick, Braymer, and Slater making short trips to visit the “Home of the Lady Trojans”. Jamboree organizers are highlighting the opportunity for fans to buy a 5 dollar “porkburger or hamburger, chips, and drink”. The order of games on Saturday will be Carrollton vs. Brunswick at 10 AM, followed by Slater vs. Braymer, Carrollton vs. Braymer, Brunswick vs. Slater, Braymer vs. Brunswick, and Slater vs. Carrollton.
At Legion Field in Milan on Friday, the Lady Wildcat softball program will welcome Princeton and Gallatin for a three-team, All GRC jamboree. Action between the squads will begin at 3 o’clock.
