The Trenton Bulldogs cruised to an 8-1 varsity tennis victory over Chariton (IA) High School on Monday afternoon, improving to 5-1 on the season.
Three singles matches finished in 8-love sweeps for the Bulldogs, with Victor Markell (#2) defeating Kasyn Wilson, Isaac Dixon (#3) taking a win over Kade Williams, while Henry Lasley (#6) downed Calvin Allwood.
In the #1 singles match, THS senior Bradyn Sager took an 8-4 win over Zach Poling, with Jacob Horton, at #5 singles, grabbing an 8-4 win over Jason Pyatak.
Chariton’s only varsity victory was in the #4 match, with Jonathan Pyatak defeating Trenton sophomore Jacob White by a final score of 8-4.
In doubles varsity action, the Bulldogs dominated, with Sager and White winning at #1 doubles 8-5 (over Poling and Pyatak). In the #2 match, Markell and Dixon won 8-4 (over Wilson and Williams), with Horton and Lasley, at #3 doubles, defeating Pyatak and Allwood 8-4.
Ryeland Kirk of THS played Christian Brown of Chariton in a pair of JV singles matches, with each winning one match. Kirk lost 6-4 and took a 6-love shutout against his Iowa competition.
