Seventeen softball players, representing northwest Missouri in Class 2, have been named to the Class 2, Region 4 All-Region first team, representing the top players in Districts 13, 14, 15, and 16 combined.
Three players from the Grand River Conference champion Trenton Lady Bulldogs were named to the first team, in junior pitcher Ainsley Tolson, junior catcher Salem Croy, and freshman outfielder Maci Moore.
Joining Tolson as first-team pitchers are Lathrop junior Brooke Huitt, Hamilton freshman Julia Kanoy, and Knob Noster sophomore Sadie Parks. The other catcher, joining Croy, on the first team is Plattsburg junior Parker Straight.
Six infielders were named to the first team, highlighted by sophomore Gillian Gibler of the district champion Penney Lady Hornets, and two Plattsburg Lady Tigers, in junior Kelsie Lewis and junior Sydney Stephens. Other infielders are Knob Noster senior Jessica Sader, Holden junior Bailee Bryant, and Macon junior Sydney Miller.
Joining Trenton’s Maci Moore in the outfield are Holden junior Maggie Klover, Mid-Buchanan senior Jill Rumpf, and Holden junior Peyton Corrigan. Sherwood sophomore Sam Hook is the first-team Region 4 utility player.
Two Trenton Lady Bulldog infielders were named Region 4 second-teamers, in junior shortstop Mykah Hurley and junior first baseman Sidney Lynch. That group of six also includes North Platte senior Alley Rickel, Marceline senior Darcy Dorrell, Sherwood sophomore Grace Parrott, and Marceline sophomore Kenzie Stahl.
The five second-team outfielders are Hamilton senior McKauley Prothero, Lathrop senior Jacque Gentzell, Macon junior Jillian King, Marceline sophomore Abbey Kussman, and Summit Christian Academy sophomore Rylee Lunn. Second-team utility selection is Mid-Buchanan junior Jaele Barber.
The three catchers named second-team are Penney sophomore Ali Trosper, Knob Noster junior Zoey Hodson, and Macon senior Allison Simons.
The four pitchers on the second team include Marceline junior Maycee Edgar and Plattsburg junior Dakota Rau, joined by Lexington junior Colby Crabtree and Sherwood freshman Mac Morgan.
For the third year in a row, Lathrop is representing Region 4 in the Class 2 state tournament. The Lady Mules, on Friday morning, lost 2-1 to Blair Oaks in a nine-inning semifinal game, leaving the Lady Mules in the third place game.
Lathrop won the state quarterfinal with Hamilton 2-0 on Saturday, October 14th, having won at Knob Noster earlier in the week. Hamilton won District 15 on Saturday, October 7th with a 2-1 win at Trenton. The Lady Hornets, on Wednesday, October 11th, won a state sectional with Macon, 8-2.
