The media members representing northeast Missouri have named All-District teams for the 2016-2017 basketball season, with two players from the state quarterfinal-reaching Green City Lady Gophers named to the squad. Freshman Brooke Littrell of Green City is a 1st-team selection, joined by Meadville senior Reagin Klein, Linn County sophomore Alexis Miller, Community R-6 junior Alissa Curtis, and Marion County sophomore Payton Hays.
Green City senior Nikita Powell is a 2nd-team All-District selection, joined by North Shelby senior Abbey Richm, Madison sophomore Keleigh Bennett, North Shelby senior Kaylee Smith, and LaPlata senior Kelsi Hemmerling.
The Class 1 girls All-District Coach of the Year for northeast Missouri is Green City’s Cody Moore. The Lady Gophers came within one point of a trip to Columbia earlier this month, falling to Prairie Home in the state quarterfinal round at Salisbury High School.
The Meadville boys had their season end on the same night as the Green City girls, with that run to the quarterfinal earning Eagles Head Coach Drew Nier All-District Coach of the Year honors.
Meadville senior Ryan Young is a 1st team selection, joined by Linn County sophomore Jase White, LaPlata junior Trevor Pipes, Novinger junior Zane Roberts, and Wellsville-Middletown senior Jacob Ussery.
Class 1 boys 2nd team all-district picks are Meadville sophomore Dillon Seckington, Linn County senior Dusten Coke, Novinger senior Kale Smith, Green City sophomore Devin Fields, and Madison sophomore Jimmy Layton.
The Scotland County senior trio of Calesse Bair, Chelsea Wood, and Abi Feeney highlight the Class 2 all-district 1st team. That group helped lead the Memphis school to a 3rd place finish at the Class 2 Show-Me Showdown in Columbia nearly two weeks ago.
Marceline senior Elaine Ewigman is a 2nd-team All-District pick. Makenzie Fessler of Marceline and Calvin Heidenwith of Putnam County earned 1st-team Class 2 honors, while two Brookfield Bulldogs were named All-District in Class 3. Future NCMC Lady Pirate Ashtin Williams is a 2nd-team selection, while fellow senior Troy Magnuson is a 1st-team all-district player from Brookfield High School.
