The Milan Wildcats, with momentum from Monday night’s Milan Tournament championship win over Marceline, took a 23-20 lead to the half against visiting Gallatin on Tuesday night, holding standout forward Isaac Bird scoreless in the first 16 minutes.
The Bulldogs flipped the developing script in the third quarter, outscoring Milan 22-3 and rolling to a 57-39 Grand River Conference road win, heard on KTTN FM 92.3.
Junior forward Payton Feiden led Gallatin with 19 points, with Bird and Boston Bell each scoring nine, Layton Shubert eight, and Brett Hemry seven points, as Gallatin improves to 14-5 overall and, at 5-1 in GRC play, stayed one game behind Putnam County and Maysville for the divisional title.
Milan, falling to 14-8 overall, and 3-3 in GRC play, had 14 points from Ahmet Niasse, nine points from Chekh Niasse, and eight points from Jeremy Bennett.
The Milan girls rolled to victory in the opener, as Cady Pauley’s 26 points, combined with 13 from Gracie Dickson, boosted the Lady ‘Cats to a 63-20 win over Gallatin. Milan is now 18-4 overall and a perfect 6-0 in GRC Eastern Division play, dropping Gallatin to 0-16 overall and 0-6 in GRC competition. AnnaBelle Ball had nine points to lead the Lady Bulldogs.
