Two teams well over the .500 mark in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference locked horns on Saturday night in the Denver suburb of Commerce City, with neither Sporting Kansas City or the host Colorado Rapids able to score in a 0-0 tie.
There were very few quality chances for either side in the contest, with Sporting goalkeeper Tim Melia racking up three saves, while Kansas City itself failed to place a shot on goal.
The result pushes Kansas City to 34 points in the standings, with a record of 10-4-4, one point ahead of Seattle for the Western Conference lead, with Colorado sitting in fourth place with 28 points, with an 8-4-4 mark.
Neither the Rapids nor Kansas City will play again until this Saturday, August 14th, with Colorado at Houston and Kansas City at Dallas.
