Tim Melia saved both shots on goal for Sporting KC (1-1-0), giving the perennial Western Conference power their first three points of the season. Houston dropped to a record of 0-1-1, good for only one point through the first two games of the season.
On Saturday, March 12, Sporting heads to suburban Denver to battle the Colorado Rapids while the Dynamo hosts the Vancouver Whitecaps.
