The draw pushes the Earthquake’s record to 3-5-5, good for 14 points, while Sporting, still well below the .500 mark at 3-7-4, has 13 points.
Russell’s first half goal for Sporting came in the 45th minute of play, with Yueill’s equalizer coming just one minute into the second half. San Jose outshot Sporting 18-5, with a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. The point earned by Kansas City was just the second away from Children’s Mercy Park this season.
