Sporting Kansas City defender Logan Ndenbe will be sidelined for the rest of the MLS Cup playoffs and potentially into the next season after tearing the ACL in his right knee during the team’s win over St. Louis City last weekend.
Ndenbe sustained the injury in the 62nd minute of the 2-1 victory, which propelled Sporting KC into the Western Conference semifinals.
The 25-year-old Ndenbe scored goals in both of Sporting KC’s wins in the best-of-three series against St. Louis. He is expected to undergo surgery soon and could face a recovery period of up to nine months.
Sporting KC will play the winner of the Houston Dynamo-Real Salt Lake series in a single-elimination game during the weekend of Nov. 25-26.
