Braymer High School hosted the Class 1, District 13 basketball tournaments last week, won by the state-ranked Southwest Livingston girls and Winston boys. Winston beat Southwest Livingston in the boys final, while Southwest beat Hardin-Central for the girls championship.
All-District honorees for District 13 have been announced, with three players from both the Lady Wildcats and Wildcats squads from Southwest named to the squad. For the Lady ‘Cats, seniors Kaylie Campbell, Kortlyn Rounkles, and Colee Webb were named All-District, along with junior Julia Finley, and sophomores Carly Thacker and Izabella Anderson from the runner-up Hardin-Central Lady Bulldogs. The rest of the squad had Orrick seniors Paige Smith and Karson Werle, Braymer sophomore Jasmine Taylor and senior Kelsey Stone, and Winston junior Sophie Pliley.
Two juniors from the District 13 champion Winston Redbirds were named All-District, with Jacob Lewis and Cy Uthe. From Southwest Livingston, sophomore center Mack Anderson was joined on the squad by junior Wyatt Maddux and senior Peyton Hein. Braymer put three boys on the All-District team, in seniors Gabe Rogers and Robbie Shoe, along with junior Keaton O’Dell. Hardin-Central senior Zach Pearon, and the Orrick tandem of freshman Dylan Comstock and junior Seth McAfee, completed the team.
Both Southwest Livingston and Winston lost in the first round of the Class 1 state playoffs, played on Tuesday night at the St. Joseph Civic Arena, both teams falling to the girls and boys squads from Worth County High School.
