The South Harrison Lady Bulldogs traveled to Trenton for volleyball action on Thursday night, coming away with a hard-fought first set win, part of a three-set sweep that continues the large improvement this fall for the SHHS program.
Marie Cookson had 12 kills and 7 aces for the visiting Lady Bulldogs, with Abigail Molloy adding 10 assists, and Kylee Cannon three kills in a 31-29, 25-15, 25-18 victory.
South Harrison won the JV match 25-15, 25-10 and the C team duel 25-10, 25-12.
Trenton coach Brad Ewald said his side “played hard against a much-improved South Harrison team”. Adding that THS “struggled to come up with aggressive scoring solutions” that his team could execute against South Harrison’s’ front and back row attack.
Trenton will play in the Carrollton Tournament on Saturday.
In other three-set varsity sweeps on Thursday night, East Atchison beat Nodaway Valley, Rock Port downed Union Star, South Holt was a winner against Mound City, Lathrop shutdown rival Plattsburg, and East Buchanan defeated Hamilton.
