The Trenton High School doubles tennis team of Lydia Leininger and Astrid Soriano traveled to Springfield on Friday, participating in the 16-team doubles Class 1 state tournament.
Leininger and Soriano got great experiences at state, but returned with an 0-2 record, falling to the Mount Vernon team of Mosley and Schubert in the state sectionals 6-3, 6-2, dropping the Trenton duo in the first round of losers bracket play.
Leininger and Soriano had their season end in a 6-2, 6-0 loss to Gullette and Hussein of Notre Dame Cape Girardeau.
