The Chillicothe Mudcats, put in a trailing position after the Nevada Griffons scored six runs in the top of the 2nd inning, caught, passed, and beat Nevada on the power of a six-run home 8th, in a 12-10 final from Shaffer Park on Thursday night.
Clean-up hitter Justin Blasinski had a huge night, with three hits in five at-bats, three runs scored, and four RBI’s. Center fielder Christian Heplock added four RBI’s, with two hits. Ramger Iglesias was 3-for-5 with a run scored, pushing his average to .346.
Thursday’s rally made it two wins in a row for the Mudcats, who routed the Kansas City Monarchs in non-league play on Wednesday night, 17-4. Blasinski had 4 RBI’s in a 4-for-6 night for Chillicothe, with Bryce Bisenius adding four RBI’s. Matt Herman got the start and picked up the win for the Mudcats.
Elsewhere in the MINK League on Thursday night, Joplin won at St. Joseph 5-1. In non-league play, Clarinda hammered Omaha Strike Zone, 22-2.
Chillicothe continues its three game series with Nevada tonight (Friday night) and Saturday, taking on the Griffons at 7:05. On Monday, the Mudcats play their annual game in Trenton, hosting the Cassville Arrows in non-league play at 7:05 from Burleigh Grimes Field.
