Carnoustie, Scotland is advancing the talents of incoming freshman Jamie Connelly to the NCMC Pirates Men’s Golf Team.  Connelly comes to the states with an amazing junior resume.  He finished 3rd in the Alfred Dunhill Schools Championship in 2013 carding a score of 78.  He represented his Angus County U16 team in 2013-14 and the U18 team in 2015-16.  In the 2015 Angus County Autumn Meeting, Connelly was the leading junior score, a 69 (-1), plus in 2016 he was selected to represent the Angus 4-man team in the Scottish Boys Area Team Championships leading to a 6th place finish.  Playing out of Carnoustie, he won the Junior Club Championship in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016.

“Jamie is playing to a 1.3 handicap on a golf course that is as rich in history as any in the world.  Carnoustie is a track that has hosted seven Open Championships, five British Amateur Championships, and ten Scottish Amateur Championships.  To put that in perspective, Connelly is a kid that grew up playing on a course that most of us couldn’t shoot under par on in a video game.  His junior success speaks for itself and we’re going to lean on that tournament experience to help us reach our goals as a team.  We are truly excited to have Jamie join our program,” commented NCMC Head Coach Craig Sager.

Connelly will join the program in time to compete during the spring season, including regional and national events.
