Cody Schrader, senior running back for Missouri, has been awarded the Burlsworth Trophy, presented to the most outstanding FBS player who began his career as a walk-on. Schrader, a transfer from Division II Truman State who walked on at MU, had a remarkable season, leading the SEC with 1,489 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
He finished the regular season at No. 3 on Missouri’s single-season rushing leaderboard. Schrader’s accomplishments also earned him unanimous AP All-SEC first-team honors. He was named a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, and the winner will be announced during The Home Depot College Football Awards on December 9.
Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz has been named the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Coach of the Year by the league’s coaches. This recognition comes after he led the Tigers to their first 10-win season since 2014 and their highest-ever College Football Playoff ranking at No. 9. Drinkwitz also received the American Football Coaches Association Region 2 Coach of the Year award and was named the Associated Press’ SEC Coach of the Year.
Additionally, he is one of 12 finalists for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award. The Tigers, led by Drinkwitz, will face No. 7 Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl on December 29.
