The Savannah Lady Savages traveled to the Carpenter-Bosley Courts at Trenton High School on Thursday afternoon, and headed home with a 6-3 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.
Savannah’s outstanding #1 singles entry Iris Alvarez was on her game for the road test, defeating Astrid Soriano of Trenton 8-0, and teaming with Maddee Olszowka for an 8-3 #1 doubles win over Soriano and Mallory Sole of Trenton.
Sole won her #2 singles match for THS, 8-6, with Alaina Overton, at #3 singles, winning 8-6 over Krynna Rudel. Trenton’s chances of getting the team win fizzled with three close singles losses, with Savannah’s Megan Weaver grabbing an 8-5 win at #4 over Lydia Leininger, Abrianna Huffman of the Savages over Harley Hall of the Bulldogs 8-5 at #5, with Savannah’s Jaylin Abbott downing Jessica Kennedy 8-6 at #6.
Trenton’s #2 doubles team of Overton and Leininger took an 8-4 win over Rudel and Huffman, with Savannah’s Weaver and Dalaney Nigh taking a #3 win over Hall and Kennedy of THS.
In high school softball action on Thursday night, Maysville claimed an 8-4 win at Trenton, scoring three runs in the 6th inning and one in the 7th to finish off the 17-hit attack. Trenton won the JV game with Maysville, 3-1. The loss to Maysville kept Trenton from grabbing a share of first-place in the GRC East, coming after a dramatic 3-1 upset win at Putnam County on Wednesday night.

Trenton’s golf team traveled to Chillicothe on Thursday night, and put up a total score of 257, finishing in third place. Chillicothe grabbed the victory at 218, with Tina-Avalon just ahead of Trenton at 253. Putnam County had three players on the course at Green Hills, not enough for a team score in the quadrangular event. However, the Lady Midgets boasted the individual champion, with Abbie Koenen shooting 49.
