Royals promote Singer to Opening Day roster, debut expected Saturday

Manager Mike Matheny, in a conversation with reporters on Wednesday, confirmed that young right-hander Brady Singer, the #2 prospect in the organization according to MLB Pipeline, will be on the Opening Day roster, and will start the Royals second game of the season, Saturday afternoon at Cleveland.

Singer turns 24 years old in August, and went a combined 12-5 a season ago at Class A and AA, with an ERA of 2.85 over 26 starts.  He was selected with the 18th overall selection of the 2018 draft out of the University of Florida.

In Kansas City’s season opener on Friday night, Danny Duffy will oppose Indians right-hander Shane Bieber, with coverage starting at 5:30 on KTTN AM 1600 and KTTN FM 92.3.
