Southwest Livingston senior Kortlyn Rounkles had 38 points in another superb offensive night, leading the Lady Wildcats to a 75-38 victory over Prairie Home, in Thursday night’s semifinal round in the 58th annual Keytesville Basketball Tournament. Kaylie Campbell added 18 points, sending Southwest into a title game match with the Norborne Lady Pirates (Saturday at 1 PM). Norborne was impressive on Thursday afternoon, doubling up Higbee in semifinal action, 52-26.
In the Southwest win, Rounkles and Campbell both had eight steals, with Campbell adding 11 boards and eight assists. Colee Webb had five steals and three assists, while McKenzie Anderson had 12 rebounds.
The Southwest Livingston boys received a 35 point, 15 rebound night from sophomore Mack Anderson in a 54-49 semifinal win over the host Keytesville Tigers. The win sends the Wildcat boys into the 2:30 championship game on Saturday, to play Brunswick, a 71-67 overtime winner in a semifinal thriller against Prairie Home.
The consolation finals start the Friday night schedule at Keytesville High School, with the Keytesville Lady Tigers hosting Bevier at 5 o’clock, while Higbee plays the Norborne boys at 6:30. The third place girls game between Higbee and Prairie Home will be 7:30 on Friday night.
The third place boys game between Keytesville and Prairie Home starts the Saturday schedule at noon, followed by the championship games, with Southwest/Norborne girls at 1 PM and the Southwest/Brunswick boys game at 2:30.
