A pair of reports, one from ESPN Radio and the second from David Kaplan of NBC Sports Chicago, are indicating that the National Football League will be matching up the Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs for a regular season in Germany this fall.
An exact date and time were not announced from the report, which also did not specify whether the contest would go to Frankfurt or Munich.
A game featuring the reigning Super Bowl Champions and one of the marquee franchises in the 100-plus year old NFL would be attractive for the league, with young star quarterbacks in Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes and Chicago’s Justin Fields, in addition to the built in storylines between the teams that includes current Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy serving as head coach in Chicago before his firing after the 2021 season.
The Chiefs began the month of April by resigning veteran safety Deon Bush to a one-year contract. Bush played in 16 regular season games a season ago, proving to be a valuable piece of depth to a championship team. He played in all three of Kansas City’s playoff games, including the Super Bowl LVII victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Bush, a University of Miami product, entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick of the Chicago Bears in 2016.
