The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has unveiled the home football schedule for the University of Missouri in 2024, featuring an exciting highlight of their old rival’s return to Memorial Stadium. This upcoming season will mark the first year of league competition for the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas, both of which were longtime rivals of Mizzou from the Big 12 Conference.
In 2024, the Tigers will host Arkansas, Auburn, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt in Columbia. They will also hit the road to face Alabama, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Texas A&M. The matchup against Oklahoma will be particularly noteworthy, as it will be the 97th meeting between the two teams and their first encounter since 2011. The rivalry between Mizzou and Oklahoma dates all the way back to 1902. Notably, the Tigers have faced only five teams 90 or more times, including Kansas, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Nebraska in addition to Oklahoma.
During the 2024 season, SEC teams will play eight conference games and an additional game against a required opponent from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, or a major independent team. This expansion comes as the SEC transitions into a 16-team conference. In their non-conference schedule, the Tigers are set to face Boston College at home on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
Starting in 2024, the SEC will eliminate divisional standings, and the SEC Championship Game will feature the top two teams in the conference standings at the conclusion of the regular season.
The complete 2024 football schedule, including specific game dates, will be announced by the SEC later this year, offering fans a comprehensive view of the upcoming season’s matchups.
The long-awaited return of the heated rivalry between the University of Texas and Texas A&M was another feature of the 2024 release. The series, having not been played since the Aggies departure to the SEC in 2011, is led by the Longhorns 76-37-5. The 2024 game will be played at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, although there was not an announcement as to whether it would be played in its traditional Thanksgiving weekend slot. Texas A&M, since joining the SEC, has played LSU on the final weekend of the regular season.
