The Winston Redbirds defeated the Stewartsville Cardinals on Friday night, 82-33 in the boy’s championship game of the Osborn Tournament. Jacob Lewis had 26 points, Craig Lewis 19, Griffen Harris 19, and Saxton Pliley 11 points for WHS. The result was not as good for the Winston girls, who fell to Osborn in the consolation final, 21-14.
The DeKalb Lady Tigers took the girl’s crown at Osborn, beating Stewartsville on Friday night, 45-28.
The Trenton Bulldogs Tuesday night opponent, the Polo Panthers, will return to Grand River Conference play with two Friday night wins. The Lady Panthers beat Pattonsburg in a close third-place game at the Osborn Tournament, 52-49, while the Panther boys defeated Pattonsburg, 65-42.
From the final day of the Bill Burns Classic at Lathrop High School, the Braymer boys knocked off Plattsburg in the title game, 61-43, while the Lathrop Lady Mules squeezed by Northland Christian to win the championship of their own tournament, 49-48.
The Plattsburg Lady Tigers and Lathrop Mules won third place games, with the PHS girls beating Kansas City East Christian, 49-32, while LHS downed nearby rival Cameron, 55-46.
The Brookfield girls and boys won the consolation hardware at Lathrop, with the Lady Dogs tipping Braymer on Friday night, 46-44, while the BHS boys defeated Northland Christian, 61-48.
