Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has taken full responsibility for his involvement in a weekend accident on a Dallas highway, where speeding sports cars caused a chain-reaction crash resulting in minor injuries to four people.
Rice was driving a leased Lamborghini SUV that was reportedly speeding along with a Corvette on North Central Expressway on Saturday. The crash involved six vehicles, and the occupants of the Lamborghini and Corvette left the scene without providing information or determining if anyone needed medical attention.
In a statement shared on his Instagram story, Rice expressed remorse and stated that he would cooperate fully with authorities regarding the incident. He apologized to everyone affected by the accident.
An attorney for Rice confirmed that he is cooperating with authorities but did not provide further details. The Chiefs acknowledged the crash but refrained from commenting further.
The identities of the other individuals involved in the crash have not been disclosed by the police.
Rice leased the Lamborghini from The Classic Lifestyle, an exotic car rental company based in Dallas. The terms of the lease specified that Rice was the only authorized driver of the vehicle, which rents for approximately $1,750 per day and is valued at around $250,000.
Rice, who grew up in North Richland Hills, Texas, played college football at SMU and was drafted by the Chiefs in the second round of last year’s NFL draft. He quickly established himself as a key player in the Chiefs’ offense, particularly during the playoffs, where he contributed significantly to the team’s success, including their Super Bowl victory against the San Francisco 49ers.
