The overnight rain of early Friday morning has postponed the scheduled games for the 2018 Cameron Softball Tournament, leaving 12 teams ready to play four games each to decide a champion on Saturday. The Trenton Lady Bulldogs final two games of the event, to be played at 2 o’clock, and either 5 o’clock or 6:30, will both be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7.
The pool play format of the tournament will remain in place, with Trenton, in Pool D, playing Savannah on Saturday morning at 8 o’clock on Field 2, and DeKalb at 12:30 on Field 3. Savannah and DeKalb meet at 11 o’clock on Field 1. No matter the results of the Pool D games, those three teams are guaranteed to next play in 2 o’clock “semifinal” games, divided into four-team tournaments for 1st, 5th, and 9th place.
Other pool play games set for the morning and early afternoon will be:
Pool A : Cameron vs. Mid-Buchanan (8 AM – Field 1), Cameron vs. S.J. Central (9:30 AM – Field 1), Mid-Buchanan vs. S.J. Central (12:30 PM – Field 1)
Pool B : S.J. Benton vs. Excelsior Springs (9:30 AM – Field 2), S.J. Benton vs. Maysville (11:00 AM – Field 2), Excelsior Springs vs. Maysville (12:30 PM – Field 2)
Pool C : S.J. Lafayette vs. Lawson (8:00 AM – Field 3), S.J. Lafayette vs. Platte Valley (9:30 AM – Field 3), Lawson vs. Platte Valley (11:00 AM – Field 3)
The bracket games will begin at 2 o’clock, with the “tournament” for first place to be played on Field 1, the “5th place” tournament on Field 2, and the “9th place” tournament” on Field 3.
