The Princeton basketball teams were dominant in claiming a pair of Thursday night semifinal wins, with the Lady Tigers moving their winning streak to five with a 48-29 win over Pattonsburg, while the PHS boys dropped 70 points in a 70-43 triumph over Northeast Nodaway.
The Lady Tigers opened “Semifinal Thursday” at the Gilman gym with a 14 point effort from junior Jaelyn Thomas, 11 from Vivian Allen, and 10 points from Payton Goodin. Princeton will play North Harrison in the Gilman City girls championship game on Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The Lady Shamrocks, the tournament’s #1 seed, routed East Harrison in the second girls semifinal of the night, 60-24.
Pattonsburg will take on East Harrison in the girls third place, Friday night at 8 o’clock.
The Princeton boys win over Northeast Nodaway is the Tigers second within a two-week period against the Blue Jays, matching the win PHS took in the mid-January South Harrison Tournament. The Tigers opponent in Saturday’s boys championship game (4:30 PM) will be the Pattonsburg Panthers, after the tournament’s #1 seed took down Gilman City, 60-39 on Thursday night.
The Gilman City boys will challenge Northeast Nodaway for third place, starting Saturday’s three-game slate from Gilman City at 1:30 in the afternoon.
