The quarterfinal round of the Gilman City Invitational Basketball Tournament are “in the book”, after four games were played on Tuesday night. Of the four games, three were considered “blowouts”, with running clock utilized in the fourth quarter, while in the evening’s finale, the host Gilman City Hawks and the visiting North Harrison Shamrocks played in their second close game in just four nights.
The top-seeded Princeton Lady Tigers cruised past Union Star in Tuesday night’s opener, 69-9, moving the Lady Tigers into a semifinal with East Harrison, Thursday night at 7 on KTTN FM 92.3. In the other girl’s quarterfinal played last night, the #2 seed from North Harrison beat Pattonsburg, 65-16. The Lady Shamrocks will play Northeast Nodaway in a 4:30 semifinal on Thursday afternoon.
The top-seeded Pattonsburg Panthers beat Union Star in the second game of the Tuesday session, 65-21, pushing the Panthers into a semifinal with North Harrison (Thursday at 8:15 PM).
Coming off a close HDC Conference loss on Friday night at Eagleville, the Gilman City Hawks were eager to turn the tables on North Harrison, but the change of location and floor did not change the result, as North Harrison claimed a 63-60 win over Gilman City.
In Wednesday night’s consolation semifinals from the Gilman City gym, the Pattonsburg Lady Panthers play Gilman City at 4:30, while the Union Star girls battle Tri-County at 7 o’clock. In the boys consolation round semifinals, Tri-County and East Harrison duel at 5:45, with the Gilman City boys hosting Union Star at 8:15.
