The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates will be headed for Miami, Florida on Thursday afternoon with a record of 8-3, after rallying for a 77-70 win over John Wood Community College at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton.
The two starting freshmen for NCMC continued their superb play, as Sarah Lamp had 24 points and 17 rebounds, while Kendey Eaton added 19 points and 7 assists. Asia Young and Jami Nickerson both had 9 points.
North Central’s women trailed at the end of the first quarter (21-18), halftime (39-33), and three quarters (59-58), before overtaking the Trail Blazers over the final 10 minutes, giving up only 11 points in the process.
The men’s game resulted in the third loss of the season for the Pirates, and second on the Ketcham Community Center floor, 94-87 to John Wood. Larry Plummer came off the bench to score a game-high 24 points for the ‘Blazers, while Gabe McKenzie had 22 points, Lincoln Elbe 12, Danilo Ranger 11, and Troy Burrows 10 points for JWCC.
Major Finley led the way for the Pirates with 15 points. Also in double digits for were Ryan Ward with 14 points, MJ Johnson with 13 points and 10 rebounds, Teyontae Jenkins with 11 points and Demetrius Houston with 10 points
The NCMC men will host Johnson County (Kansas) Community College on Wednesday night at 7 o’clock. The Pirates, on Saturday, play at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois. The 3 o’clock game will be broadcast on our video service, KGOZ-TV (YouTube.com/KTTNRadio).
