The North Central Missouri College baseball team returned home with a pair of victories on Sunday, winning at Moberly Area Community College by score of 13-3 and 6-2.
Eric Torrero and Ethan Walker took the victories for the Pirate pitching staff, with Torrero striking out eight in a complete game effort. Camden Lutz picked up the save in the Game 1 victory.
On Saturday, North Central lost 5-2 and 5-4. For the four-game series, Julio Guerrero went a combined 8-for-15, improving his batting average to .500. He hit for the cycle in Sunday’s opener, and scored six games over the weekend. Jordi Ventura had a pair of RBI’s, setting a new program record with 56 on the season. Justin Dameron had five hits and Wilmer Jimenez seven hits for the 20-21 Pirates.
NCMC softball split a doubleheader on Saturday against Region XVI rival Crowder College, winning the opener 11-7 and dropping the nightcap 9-6. NCMC is now 22-19 overall and 6-14 in region competition.
Brookelynn Becker had three hits in the opener, scoring twice. Chillicothe grad Hope Helton had three RBI’s and had a double in a 2 for 4 contest. Hailey Shepardson had a homer.
Rylie Bower, in the second game, had a pair of base hits and stole four bases. Briley Bouma gave up five runs in five innings of work, absorbing the loss.
