Behind 24 points from sophomore Jalen Gant, the North Central Missouri College Pirates beat the Culver-Stockton JV on Monday night, 94-80 at the Ketcham Community Centger in Trenton. Adding 17 points to the winning recipe was Jordan Reece, with M.J. Johnson scoring 16 and Jake Salisbury 12.
The win moves the Pirates record to 14-10, going into a Thursday night home date with the Missouri Southern JV.
Second year coach Jeremy Esry told NCMCPirates.com, “It was probably not our best effort or outcome last night but we still did some really good things out there on the court as a team. We didn’t shoot it as well from the outside as we would like or usually do but I thought we did some things rebounding wise and attacking wise that countered our off night shooting”.
The Lady Pirates, stinging from a 1-4 record in Region 16 play, will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday night, traveling to Nevada, MO to play the Cottey College Comets. Tip from the Hinkhouse Center is slated for 6 o’clock, with pregame at 5:45 on Hot Country Z 101.7, KTTN on Tune-In Radio, and KTTNSports.com.
