The fall exhibition season is underway for the baseball program at North Central Missouri College, with a road trip to Fayette, Missouri on Tuesday afternoon to play Central Methodist University in doubleheader action.
The Pirates grabbed a pair of wins, by scores of 10-6 and 9-1.
In the opener, the North Central offense came alive in the late inning, scoring four runs each in the 5th and 7th innings. Braedyn Brewer scored two runs, walked twice, and hit a base hit, while Tye Huff was a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored a pair of RBI’s.
Jay Greco earned the victory from the Pirate bullpen. Keven Franco started and tossed three strong innings before hitting difficulties in the Eagles fourth inning. Greco got five outs to grab the victory, with Koby Linder bridging the gap in outs between Franco and Greco.
Four Pirate pitchers, in the second game, twirled a combined no-hitter in a 9-1 win. Collin Craig pitched the first three innings, and struggled with command, walking four, but working around the runners with three strikeouts supporting his three no-hit innings.
Albert Gonzalez was 2 for 2 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI’s to pace the North Central offense.
The next action for NCMC’s baseball program will be Thursday, October 1st against Highland Community College.
