Trenton High School’s Alaina Overton claimed first-place in the #2 singles division of Wednesday’s Cameron Tennis Tournament, rolling through three of her four matches and surviving a strong quarterfinal challenge to claim the title. Overton beat Kloie Louner of Maryville in the opening round 6-love, downed Thomas of Warrensburg in the quarterfinals, 7-5, before disposing of Davis of Lafayette 6-love and Molinari of Platte County 6-1 to take the top spot.
Mallory Sole represented Trenton in the #1 singles event, finishing in 5th place. In a 2-2 performance, Sole beat Galapin of Maryville in the opening round 6-3, before falling in back-to-back contests, to Gostomsler of Warrensburg 6-2 and Lorenz of Lafayette 6-3. Sole took 5th place with a victory over Williams of Higginsville, 6-1.
In #2 doubles, Trenton’s team of Harley Hall and Jillian Voorhies won 7th place, with a 6-4 loss to Maryville, 6-4 loss to Warrensburg, 7-5 loss to Lafayette, and a 6-2 win in the 7th place match against Cameron.
In #3 doubles, Faith Lee and Matty Shultz won 6th place, falling to Maryville 6-4 and Warrensburg 6-1. After a forfeit win over Lafayette, Lee and Shultz lost in the 5th place match to Higginsville, 7-5.
Astrid Soriano was 7th place in #1 singles, falling to Maryville 6-1, Warrensburg 6-1, Lafayette 6-2, before taking a 6-0 win over Cameron.
