Twenty-eight teams, including two-time defending national champion Northwest Missouri State (9-2) and the MIAA champion Fort Hays State Tigers (11-0) will vie for a national championship over the next month at facilities across the country. In seedings announced on Sunday night, Fort Hays State earned the top spot in Super Regional 3 and a first-round bye. The Bearcats, 30-0 winners on Saturday afternoon at Missouri Western, made the field with the #6 seed, and will travel to play #3 seed Ashland University of Ohio on Saturday morning at 11 o’clock.
Fort Hays State will next play on Saturday, November 25th, hosting the winner of #4 seed Ferris State and fifth-seeded Quachita Baptist in Hays, Kansas. The Tigers are in the national playoffs for the first time since 1995.
The Bearcats opponent on Saturday, Ashland, went 10-1 this season, winning the outright GLIAC title. Northwest has made 14 consecutive NCAA playoff appearances, and are 47-15 all-time in postseason play, capturing six national championships.
The playoffs will continue each week leading up to national championship game on Saturday, December 16 that will be held at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas.
