The University of Missouri Athletic Department has confirmed five additional student-athletes testing positive for COVID-19, raising the total to nine since testing began in early June. Out of 377 total tests administered, a total of 10 (including one within Mizzou Athletics) have come back positive, a test rate of 2.6%.
Sports student-athletes have returned to campus in Columbia with a staggered plan, as football, along with men’s and women’s basketball came back June 8th, followed by cross country, women’s soccer, and volleyball on June 15, and gymnastics, swimming and diving, and wrestling on June 22.
An e-mail sent to the Columbia Missourian from MU indicated that “most all of the infected had recovered.”
