The successful basketball seasons at North Central Missouri College have hit the holiday break, with the Lady Pirates sitting at 10-5, while a 13-1 start has the Pirate men up nine spots in Monday’s NJCAA Division 2 poll, to a program best #5 national ranking.
On Monday, the Lady Pirates, just 48 hours after beating Marshalltown in a Saturday test at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton, played the ASA Miami Silver Storm in south Florida, claiming their 10th win of the season in a 53-39 final score. However, the Lady Pirates momentum was stifled on Tuesday afternoon in a Miami-Dade surge, as the Sharks outscored North Central in the second half 53-28, rolling to a 96-69 win.
Both North Central teams are now off until Wednesday, January 8th, when they host the Ellsworth Community College Panthers at the Ketcham Community Center. On Saturday, January 11th, Region XVI play begins for NCMC, with a doubleheader road trip to St. Louis to take on the rival Archers.
