The North Central Missouri College baseball team won two games on Saturday in the NJCAA Division II tournament in Union, Missouri.
North Central beat East Central 14-4 in six innings and Moberly Area Community College 12-6 to take the three-team Region XVI championship. That result left North Central in a district championship series with the Region II champion Hesston College Larks.
Needing two victories in as many games to advance in the playoff bracket, North Central lost the district title to the Larks, 9-4, sending the Kansas school deeper into the national playoffs.
NCMC, finishing the season at 22-30, lost to Hesston in first-round action on Friday afternoon 13-5. The tournament was held at East Central College in Union, Missouri.
