The North Central Missouri College baseball team won 3 of 4 games in a weekend series with Dakota County Technical College, taking wins of 8-1, 6-4, and 2-2 around a 7-2 loss. The season record for the Pirates is now 10-17.
This week has brought a brief break in games for North Central, with Wednesday’s games against Southeast postponed due to the forecast of mid-week rain. Next on the slate is a 9-inning contest on Thursday against Southeast Community College.
For the Pirates in the weekend series at Burleigh Grimes Field, Noah Bodenhausen and Layne Rutherford each had five hits and scored a combined nine runs. Bailey Quint had six RBI’s and Jesus Fonseca, in the final game of the series, had a walk-off game-winning hit.
Pirates pitchers fanned 45 Dakota Tech batters over 28 innings in the series, while holding their bases-on-balls total, which had been elevated, to just 19. Wins went to Evan Johnston, Nathan Fine, and Kyle Stratman.
