The North Central Missouri College basketball teams kept momentum rolling from out of the weekend with a pair of wins against four-year junior varsity competition on Tuesday night in Trenton.
With the Lady Pirates losing home contests against Metropolitan and St. Louis this month, the rest of January for North Central is against all JV competition, which NCMC has been handling in grand fashion. The 19th ranked team in the country (NJCAA Division Two) hammered the Missouri Valley JV, winning 98-53.
Trenton native Maci Moore led NCMC with a 24 point, 10 rebound double-double, with Hamilton native Nora Ford adding her own double-double, with 14 points and 11 assists. Kennadie Crowe and Jordyn Gray both scored 15 points with Ianara Morbidoni tallying 11.
The Pirate men had a bit of a tougher challenge from the Peru State College JV, but won in fairly comfortable fashion, extending a 37-32 halftime lead with 53 second-half points in a 90-67 triumph.
Leading the North Central men with 27 points was sophomore point guard Kam Bevel. Nelson Reynolds scored 13 with Eric Calicutt and Gerald Gittens 10 each for the Pirates.
