The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates traveled to Neosho on Saturday, battling the Region 16 rival Crowder Lady ‘Riders in doubleheader action.
In the first game, a three run home run by sophomore Madi Trump ignited the Lady Pirates in the top of the 1st inning, but Crowder answered with two runs in the bottom of the first, and took over the game with six runs in the 3rd inning, rolling to a 12-5 victory over NCMC.
Jessica Stupar took the loss for North Central, giving up 12 runs in 4 2/3 innings, but it was the defense most at fault for the visitors, as the Lady Pirates committed six errors, meaning 10 of the 12 runs given up by Stupar were unearned. The loss dropped Stupar’s record to 12-8.
Trenton native McKinley Hurley had a two RBI game for North Central, courtesy of a two-run triple in the fifth inning. Courtney Seymour score two runs for NCMC.
The Lady Pirates played a much cleaner second game, committing only one error and riding the pitching brilliance of Allison Hilsabeck to an 8-1 win. Hilsabeck fired a complete game four hitter, giving up a fourth inning unearned run.
North Central broke open a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning with 5 runs. TeriAnna Mohler had three RBI’s, two run scored, and a homer for the Lady Pirates offense, with Madi Trump scoring twice, with two hits, and an RBI. Courtney Seymour was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Aubrey Nelson had a pair of hits and two RBI’s.
This week’s schedule has changed significantly, according to Head Coach Megan Cairns. North Central’s scheduled games at Indian Hills and Marshalltown have been cancelled. The Lady Pirates, this (Tuesday) afternoon, will play at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Missouri, with that doubleheader moved up from its original Thursday date. The doubleheader in Trenton against Crowder on Friday afternoon (April 22nd) will be played as scheduled. It is the “Sophomore Recognition Day” games for NCMC.
The NCMC baseball team, playing Saturday, suffered a home sweep to the hands of Crowder, falling by scores of 15-4 and 10-7 at Burleigh Grimes Field. The Pirates will host Missouri Valley (JV) this (Tuesday) afternoon at 2 o’clock. On Thursday, NCMC will travel to Marshall to play the Vikings JV squad at 2 o’clock. Both days will be doubleheaders.
