The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirate softball team spent a cold afternoon on the dirt of Mark Griffin Field on Sunday afternoon, but made the experience a productive one, hammering the North Dakota State College of Science (Wahpeton, ND) by score of 7-0 and 18-0.
Mackenzie Robnett led the Lady Pirates offensively with six hits in eight at-bats, while Macie Bohannon was 5 for 8 in the sweep. Kaitlyn Marsh earned the win in the first game to improve to 5-1, while Alex Miller fired three innings of shutout softball, adding three punch outs, to get the win in Game #2.
On Monday afternoon, NCMC continued its winning ways with wins over the Central Methodist (Fayette, MO) junior varsity by scores of 18-0 and 14-12, improving to 11-3 on the season.
The second game saw a flurry of power, with the Pirates and Eagles combining for 11 home runs. North Central showed a good ability to fight through adversity in the second game, scoring the final seven runs to win, after trailing CMU 12-7.
While the overall record is strong for the Lady Pirates, North Central is looking to build positively in Region 16 play, with a record of 0-2 against region foes. A Region 16 doubleheader in North Kansas City against Maple Woods Community College comes up on Thursday afternoon for NCMC’s women.
