The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates golf team won the NJCAA Region XVI championship in Danville, Illinois on April 23rd through the 25th, competing along with their region brethren from Missouri in the Central District Championship tournament in Danville, Illinois.
In the district competition, NCMC finished in third place behind John A. Logan and Rend Lake. However, in region play, the Lady Pirates bested rivals Crowder College and Metropolitan Community College to claim that title for the second year in a row.
On the first day of the tournament, North Central had a team score of 409, but improved to 384 by the final day of the event. Individually for the Lady Pirates, Kennedy Dickerson led the way with a 9th place district finish, shooting a combined score of 184 to earn First-Team All-Region XVI honors. Her score of 88 on the second day set a new personal best for Dickerson at NCMC.
Lexi Hutton was named a Region first-teamer with an 11th place district finish, with a 36-hole score of 191. ReaLee Smith was 17th and Haley Baskett 20th in the district tournament for North Central, with Smith shooting 205 and Baskett 213. Brianna Filley had a 24th place finish, but improved her score by 17 shots from Day 1 to Day 2.
The Lady Pirates will return Dickerson, Baskett, and Smith this fall, while adding four freshman in the 2023 recruiting class for head coach Nate Swann.
