The semifinal round games are set for the NCJAA Division 2, Region 16 women’s basketball tournament, to be played on Friday night, March 2nd at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. With one more game remaining in the regular season (St. Louis at Penn Valley on Saturday, February 24th), the seeds are locked into place for the semifinal round.
With a Region 16 record of 1-5, the Cottey College Comets will have the #4 seed, and a third game against St. Louis, scheduled for a 3 o’clock tip on March 2nd from Jefferson City. St. Louis, at a perfect 5-0 in Region 16 play, has locked up the top seed, regardless of their result this weekend in Kansas City.
At 2-4 in Region 16 play, the North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates have the #3 seed for the Region 16 tournament, and will meet in the rubber match of their season series against Penn Valley on Friday, March 2nd at 5 o’clock, with coverage of the game on Hot Country Z 101.7. The Lady Pirates and Penn Valley split their season series, with North Central winning by double digits at the Ketcham Community Center, while the Scouts returned the favor to NCMC in a double-digit drubbing in Kansas City earlier this month.
The semifinal winners from March 2nd advance to the Region 16 championship game, to be played at 6 o’clock on Saturday evening, March 3rd at Jason Gym at Lincoln University.
The Lady Pirates, along with the North Central men, finish off their regular season schedules on Saturday, February 24th, hosting North Arkansas College at the Ketcham Community Center. The women’s game at 12 noon can be heard on Hot Country Z 101.7, with Tom Johnson on the play-by-play call. The men’s game will tip at 2 o’clock from the KCC.
