The North Central Missouri College softball team will begin postseason play on Friday morning at 11 o’clock, with the #3 seed Lady Pirates taking on #6 seed St. Charles in a first-round playoff game in the NJCAA, Division 1, Region 16 tournament at Battle High School in Columbia.
The NCMC/St. Charles matchup will be the second of two first-round games, with #4 seed Three Rivers dueling with #5 seed Maple Woods at 9 o’clock on Friday morning. The Three Rivers-Maple Woods winner will play #1 seed Crowder on Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock, with the NCMC/St. Charles survivor drawing #2 seed Jefferson on Friday afternoon at 3.
The Region 16 tournament is being played in a double-elimination format, meaning that a loss on Friday morning would leave NCMC in a position to have to win four games in a row, over three days, to win the tournament. Winning four games in a row, starting with Friday morning’s test against St. Charles, would also win a region title for North Central.
