North Central Missouri College has added its second overseas recruit to the men’s golf program in as many days, announcing the signing of Scott Swayne, a 3 handicap playing out of the Downfield Golf Club. Swayne is expected to be another strong addition to the Pirate program as a freshman in the 2017-2018 school year, joining sophomore-to-be Jamie Conelly, a former teammate of Swayne’s in Angus County.
In Swayne’s relatively short golfing career, he has compiled quite an impressive junior resume. In 2015, he earned first place honours in both the Downfield Junior Stroke Play and the Alfred Dunhill School’s Scratch event, shooting a 76 on the Kittocks Course at St. Andrews. Last season, in addition to his individual successes, he was a member of the Downfield Club team that won the Angus County Boys Championship. He also helped his team end a 20 year drought when Angus County successfully won the Gary Harvey Trophy.
Outside of golf, Swayne is very active in his school, representing them in football (soccer), table tennis, and badminton. He also volunteers in the PE department, acting as classroom assistant in two classes of younger pupils and helps run a table-tennis club during his breaks. In addition to athletics, Scott uses his position to speak to younger students about the negative effects of drugs, alcohol, and various types of abuse.
