The North Central Missouri College women won their sixth consecutive contest, while the men improved to 4-2, overwhelming a pair of four-year junior varsity squads on Monday night at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton.
The Lady Pirates took down the William Penn (Iowa) junior varsity 88-60, as Kendey Eaton continued her fine freshman season with a team-high 18 points. Sarah Lamp finished below her scoring average, but 11 fourth quarter points send the Kirksville product to a 16 point night. Madison Gonseth came off the bench to tally a season-high 13, including 9 of 10 from the free throw line, while Dasia Young and Kelly Warford both scored 11. The win improves the Lady Pirates to 7-2, with a nine-day break before their next game (Wednesday, November 30th at 5:30 at Kansas City Kansas).
William Penn was paced by 18 points from Sara Petrzelka, 17 points from Raven Dixon and 12 from Jenna Santi.
The North Central men’s team ran past visiting Central Methodist, beating the Eagles junior varsity team 98-64. Major Finley led a balanced scoring attack for the Pirates with 18 points, while M.J. Johnson added 15, Jalen Gant 14, Demetrius Houston 12, and Ryan Ward 10 points.
Central Methodist had 20 points from Hayden Drace and 15 from Matthew Blissett.
The Pirate men will next be in action on Wednesday, November 30th, playing in Iowa Falls, Iowa against the Ellsworth Community College Panthers at 7:30.
