The North Central Missouri College Pirates blasted Wentworth Military Academy pitching staff for 21 runs in the first game of a Friday doubleheader at Burleigh Grimes Field, rolling to a 21-2, five inning victory.
Quinsly Balentien had two homers, including a grand slam, for the North Central offense, as Wade Phillips snared the victory with four innings, allowing only one earned run. NCMC cracked five home runs in the victory, taking advantage of a strong southerly wind at the Trenton ballpark.
The Pirates could have used some of their offensive outburst in Game #2, as North Central was slowed by stronger Red Dragon pitching in a 4-2 defeat. The NCMC offense only managed four hits in the contest.
The remaining schedule for the 2017 baseball season at North Central includes three doubleheaders against Region XVI rivals, with two games each against Crowder, Mineral Area, and Maple Woods.
