Arch Manning, a senior quarterback at Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, has announced a verbal commitment to the University of Texas, spurning offers from Alabama and Georgia to join Steve Sarkisian’s rebuilding project with the Longhorns.
Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, and grandson of Archie Manning, visited Georgia on the first weekend of June, followed shortly by travels to Alabama and then Texas. Somewhat surprisingly, Manning chose the Longhorns, who went 5-7 in the Big 12 Conference a season ago, but have the money, power, and tradition to potentially create a quick-turn around. Arch Manning is considered one of the top high school football prospect in years.
Texas, along with archrival Oklahoma, will be moving from the Big 12 Conference to the soon-to-be 16 school Southeastern Conference by at least July 2025, although it does remain possible that shift could happen earlier if parties involved can agree to terms and buyout payments.
