College basketball insider Jon Rothstein is reporting that the Missouri Tigers will take part in the Orange Bowl Classic on December 17th, playing the Central Florida Knights in Sunrise, Florida. St. John’s and Florida State will play in the other game in the classic.
Central Florida will be joining the Big 12 Conference in July 2023. The Orlando-based school was 18-12 last season, and has played Missouri twice before, falling to Cuonzo Martin’s Tigers in both 2017 and 2018.
The game with Central Florida adds to a challenging slate of non-conference games for Missouri in the 2022-2023 season, with Kansas visiting Mizzou on Saturday, December 10th and Iowa State traveling to Columbia for the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Saturday, January 28th. The season opener for new Head Coach Dennis Gates at Missouri is slated for November 7th against Southern Indiana.
