The Missouri Tigers, on Friday afternoon, picked up their fourth verbal commitment for the Class of 2019, as Kirkwood High School (St. Louis, MO) wide receiver Maurice Massey picked the in-state Tigers over Illinois, in an announcement video posted on Twitter.
Massey becomes the second St. Louis area recruit to verbal with Head Coach Barry Odom, joining Lutheran North High School offensive lineman Jack Buford. Massey, in his junior season at Kirkwood, caught 54 passes for 964 yards, while scoring a total of 13 touchdowns. He is rated by 247Sports.com as the state of Missouri’s 12th best player, and the country’s 67th best receiver. Last winter, Massey had briefly committed to Iowa State, but reopened his recruitment days later.
Massey is Missouri’s 10th commitment in the Class of 2019, and the fourth over a six-day period. Despite the recent success, that number is still the lowest among Southeastern Conference schools, with Vanderbilt in 13th position in that group with 12 verbal commitments to date.
