The University of Missouri football program, preparing to lose defensive linemen Isaiah McGuire and D.J. Coleman to the NFL Draft, received a boost on Tuesday afternoon with the announcement from defensive end Trajan Jeffcoat that he plans a return to the Tigers in 2023.
Jeffcoat will be using his fifth season of eligibility, coming off a season that saw him record 20 tackles, making an appearance in all of MU’s regular season games. He did not play in the Tigers 27-17 loss to Wake Forest in the Gasparilla Bowl due to injury.
The return of Jeffcoat adds depth to a defensive group that will include returning starters Chad Bailey, Ennis Rakestraw Jr., Kris Abrams-Draine, Jaylon Carlies, and Darius Robinson.
On Monday, running back Elijah Young announced an upcoming transfer away from Missouri, ending a three-year run with the Tigers. Young had a back-up role in the Tigers backfield, rushing for a combined 333 yards with one touchdown since joining Mizzou as a three-star recruit from Knoxville, Tennessee.
